Sheriff: Mother orders inmate son to beat another prisoner
News

A Hamblen County Jail inmate told officials that he was carrying out his mother's orders when he, along with two other prisoners, attacked the man accused of stabbing his mother's boyfriend.

Authorities believe Lynn Marie Killion, 57, of Bean Station asked her son Jesse Lee Killion, 30, to beat up Sterling Morgan.

Morgan was booked in the Hamblen County Jail on Sunday after he was charged for the stabbing of George Brock Hance earlier that weekend.

As it turns out, two days after Morgan's arrest, the son of Hance's girlfriend, who was also incarcerated in the Hamblen County Jail, called his mother, Lynn Killion. She apparently told him that Morgan "needed to have his ass beat," and her son told her that he would "take care of it," according to a Hamblen County Sheriff's Department press release.

Authorities believe Killion recruited two other inmates to beat up Morgan, who suffered injuries to his face before corrections officers could pull the three men off him. Officers took Morgan to the hospital for evaluation, and he later returned to jail but to a special holding area.

Officials charged Jesse Lee Killion with conspiracy and aggravated assault for the attack. The two other inmates, Logan Lynch 25, of Sevierville and Joseph Popaduik, 24, of Morristown, are facing the same charges. Authorities charged Lynn Marie Killion with criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
