Teen pleads guilty to being accessory to murder of friend's dad

(WCYB) A teenager charged in connection with a Greene County murder entered a plea Thursday in juvenile court.

The Greene County juvenile court tells WCYB that Daniel Richards-Birchfield pleaded guilty to theft over $1,000 and accessory after the fact of first degree murder. Prosecutors agreed to drop the first degree murder charge.

ID=7256477Prosecutors say he and three other teens took off to South Carolina after they believe Zachary Thomas Blanchard killed his father.

Richards-Birchfield agreed to testify in any future hearings against Blanchard.

Richards-Birchfield was placed in the custody of the Department of Children's Services and will be held until the judge decides when he will be released.
