Cocke County deputies arrested a man after officials found a dead dog on his property.

A local animal shelter asked deputies to check on several dogs at a home on Old 15th Road in Del Rio Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said the pet owner, Joshua James Ramsey, wasn't home when deputies arrived. Outside the home, deputies found a dead dog inside a dog house. Deputies said they also saw an extremely skinny dog changed up. On the porch of the house, officials found a third dog, who appeared malnourished, lying in a dog house.

All three dogs' bones were showing, according to an arrest report.

The owner told deputies he checked on the animals two days before officials found the dogs.

Animal control took the dead dog and the two other animals to a local shelter for further evaluation.

Deputies arrested and charged Ramsey with three counts of animal cruelty.
