Expansion by Huf North America will bring 100 new jobs to Greene Co.

A Greeneville company is planning an expansion that will add 100 new jobs.

Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty made the announcement Thursday,  along with Huf North America representatives.

Huf will invest $20 million dollars to add a 52,000 square foot addition to its current facility, located on T. Elmer Cox Drive, for a plastic
injection molding and paint facility. The expansion is expected to be
complete in 2013, with customer deliveries beginning in 2014.

"Our Jobs4TN Plan made expanding existing businesses in Tennessee one of our priorities, and it identified the automotive industry as one of six key clusters in which Tennessee has a distinct competitive advantage we could leverage for job growth," Haslam said. "Huf North America has been a part of Tennessee's business community for nearly two decades, and I want to congratulate the company on its ongoing success."

"Tennessee is an attractive location for companies around the world with our business friendly environment, solid workforce and tradition of quality manufacturing," Hagerty said. "I thank Huf North America for its continued investment and confidence in our state and its citizens."

"Huf North America is excited to announce the business and process expansion at our Greeneville, Tenn. location to include plastic injection molding and paint, which will create 100 new jobs," Michael Supe, president and CEO, Huf North America, said.

"Our Tennessee location was established in 1995 and is considered a central logistic location for the Huf Group, supplying German and U.S. original equipment manufacturers. The expansion completion date is planned for the end of 2013, starting customer deliveries at the beginning of 2014. The annual planned volume is 2.5 million vehicles."

Huf North America is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Huf Hülsbeck & Fürst GmbH & Co. KG and headquartered in Velbert, Germany. The company is a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of mechanical and electronic key systems, lock sets, steering locks and remote control systems for the automotive industry. The Huf Group employs more than 4,800 individuals worldwide, with operations in 16 countries.

The Huf North America Greeneville facility was established in 1995 and is a German and U.S. original equipment manufacturer for Volkswagen, BMW, Ford, Chrysler and GM. Along with the company's Greeneville location, Huf North America has a sales office in Farmington Hills, Mich. and corporate headquarters in Milwaukee, Wis.

"The partnership has been working with Huf for the past two years on this project, and we are extremely grateful to our local team of mayors, utility representatives and economic development partners, especially the state of Tennessee," Bill Carroll, chairman, Greene County Partnership, said. "Without everyone working as a team, this expansion would have not been possible."
