We now know the name of a man killed in a fiery crash last week.

The accident happened on August 21 in White Pine along State Highway 113, right under the I-40 underpass.

THP says the car was going fast, hit a concrete pillar, and erupted into flames.

Officials had to use dental records to identify the victim.

He is 32-year-old Curtis W. Owenby of Morristown.

The person who was killed when they crashed into a bridge pillar in Jefferson County on Tuesday has still not been identified.

According to THP Trooper Mark Self, the driver appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed when it traveled off the right side of the road and struck the bridge pillar head-on.  The vehicle burst into flames.

One person has been killed in a fiery crash in Jefferson County.

Dispatchers say the wreck was reported around 2:00 pm on Tuesday.  According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the accident happened on State Hwy. 113 as it passes beneath I-40.   Only one vehicle was involved and it caught fire after the crash.

There's no word on what caused the crash or the name of the person who was killed.

Traffic on Hwy. 113 was affected in both directions, according to TDOT. The left lane was blocked is the westbound direction.
