This year's flu shots becoming available

Flu season is just around the corner, and already drug stores and doctor's offices have supplies of this year's vaccine.

The shots will be available to patients by the end of the month.

But if you get your shot now, will you be protected all season? The Centers for Disease Control says "yes."

The CDC recommends that people get their shots as soon as possible. It suggests everyone from six months old and older get a yearly vaccine.

One local flu shot clinic opens Tuesday.

He is one of six firefighters from Grassy Fork and Cosby that are planning to go to Hancock County, Miss., to help with relief efforts following Tropical Storm Isaac. He said the main goal is to assist the local fire departments in the area.

Hamblen leads rural counties in Hispanics

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) -- A report from the University of Tennessee finds that Hamblen County has the largest Hispanic population in Tennessee, outside of metropolitan areas.

The Citizen Tribune reported on the study by UT's Center for Business and Economic Research.

The study used 2010 U.S. Census data and concluded more than 6,700 Hispanics live in Hamblen County, but also noted that because of the way census information is gathered, that figure is probably low.

Welcome to Morristown

Welcome to Morristown

First, let's start with a little history.  Morristown was settled around the late 1780's by Gideon Morris utilizing a land grant from the state of North Carolina.  Morris and his family came to present day Morristown from the Watauga settlement near Elizabethton.  The Morris family graveyard today consists of an acre surrounded by an iron fence in to the south of downtown beside the Little Dutch Restaurant. We have the lower section for 3 years old on up and folks that don't want as much as action."

The facility sits right off exit 447 of Interstate 40 in Hartford, Tennessee. Two years ago, they expanded to add more features.
