Monday afternoon Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes placed the Ten Commandments on display in the county's courthouse.  The religious document is accompanied in a frame by copies of the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution.

Fontes is the 25th sheriff in Tennessee to request the framed documents from conservative activist June Griffin.  Griffin donates the framed display in order to circumvent any argument that taxpayer dollars have been utilized to purchase the religious document.

One group took a trip to Knoxville to spruce up the "Birdhouse," an 1880's Victorian home that serves as a neighborhood center.

The students painted ceilings and trim as well as mulched the community garden.

Angels of Hope helps cancer patients

Hundreds of East Tennessee cancer patients benefit from a volunteer effort to help them around the holidays.

"This says love is all you need," reads a hand made pillow case.

Love motivated UT Medical Oncologist Dr. Susan Huntsinger to start a program to help the cancer patients she treats.

"To be able to do this for them and give them just that little bit of spark that little bit of hope is just a wonderful thing," she said.

She realized the holidays can be especially difficult for her patients.

Rezoning request for Food City in Morristown fails to pass

Rezoning request for Food City in Morristown fails to pass

Some folks in Morristown are celebrating after a vote kept a grocery store from relocating in their backyards.

For months, residents of Country Club Estates have been fighting a rezoning request that would allow a Food City to relocate 100 feet from their homes.

They used an older part of their charter to fight the plan. The charter says a 4/5 majority is needed from city council to pass a development plant if 20 percent of property-owners affected filed a petition against it.
