Dogwood Park Concert Series 2013 Preparations Underway!

THE 2013 DOGWOOD PARK CONCERT SERIES BEGINS MAY 26th.  The kick off line up is The Dugger Band, The Willi and Madison Metcalf.  Three great, young groups and artist who will give DOGWOOD PARK CONCERT SERIES a great start.

The Dugger Band is in the midst of kicking off a summer tour called “The Journey” and this show will be playing all over the southeast.  Their Christmas Show called, “The Gift,” was a sell out for Greeneville’s NPAC and gave the inspiration for this summer tour.  With the band bigger and better than ever, Dogwood Park Concerts welcome back this great band and look forward to a great show.

The Willi is a true family band.  Walter is the oldest and enrolled in college.  He works hard to find time to still play in shows.  Along with his brother and two sisters this group writes, sings and plays some of the best music ever.  Family vocal harmonies along with their musical talents give this group a totally unique sound.  You will never get tired of hearing this group?

Madison is the 8 year old daughter of Brad & Paige Peters and Kevin & Melinda Metcalf.   Madison is the 2011 & 2012 AG's Got Talent People's Choice Winner and 2012 Miss Baileyton La Petite.   Madison is also a member of the Community Children's Chorus of Greeneville and a member of Mt. Zion UMC in Afton where she sings in the adult & children's choirs.   Madison has performed for various events including singing the National Anthem at the Astros game, local churches and her school.     Madison also enjoys playing the guitar, basketball and playing with her sister & brothers.   Madison's favorite music is contemporary Christian and The Band Perry.

Music starts at 4 PM.  Arrive early, eat, say hello to your neighbors and make some new friends.  Bring a blanket or chair for extra comfort.  This is a family friendly event and there is a playground for children adjacent to the park.  The concert is free.  Donations are accepted to help defray advertising and production costs.

This is the fifth consecutive year Greeneville Parks and Recreation has presented a series of concerts at Dogwood Park. Located behind Tusculum View Elementary School in Greeneville Tennessee, the park features beautiful outdoor Ginny Kidwell Amphitheater.  The picturesque park will be the venue for a series of Free public concerts starting in late May and running through September.  These concerts include local talent as well as regional and national acts.  Each concert is designed to not only showcase area talent but are also themed to include many styles of today’s music.  Last year’s concerts included contemporary Christian, classic rock, country, R &B and with the last show of the year being co-hosted with Rural Resources signer song writer Darrell Scott concluded the 2012 season.  Last year’s final show also included a fireworks show sponsored by the Creamy Cup Coffee Shop.

As preparations for this year’s concert series begin we would say thanks to the sponsors for making it all possible. Dr. Enuf, Gateway Ford, Popcorn Video, and Rural Resources continue to provide generous support for these free to the public concerts.  We also want to thank the large number of volunteers that put in countless hours and effort to make these concerts a reality.  Without them the Park Concerts would not happen at all!   Thanks must also go out to the folks that attended these concerts and have been so supportive.  Each year the attendance has grown and the involvement of local small business has grown also.  Creamy Cup and Top Dog are now regulars serving hot food, ice cream, hot and cold drinks.

Greeneville Light and Power’s Round Up Program has upgraded Dogwood Park with new lighting, making for a more comfortable and safer concert experience when the music continues after dark.  Also on the drawing board for Dogwood Park is a permanent concession stand which will include restrooms.  Parking has also been addressed with the addition of a parking field adjacent to the concert area.  Handicap parking is available but most parking is on grassy terrain.
